Statement
My work is about creativity in a post-traumatic mind. Educators know the brain and know the importance that creative processes and higher level thinking have on an individual’s wellness along with their capacity to learn. This series explores a visualization of the whimsy, discomfort, confusion, and introspection that occurs during an individual’s healing of trauma. The delineation between colorful delusion, memory, and reality focuses, faces, and becomes clear again as our trauma narratives inform the way we perceive our world.
What my time at KCAD meant to me
Being a student again has made me a better teacher. The visual arts play a vital role in the field of education. My time in the Master of Art Education program has given me the research, skills, and language to use my voice as an even louder advocate for the arts!
